“The best choice I ever made.” Student

A Level Music is for those students who have a genuine love of music in all aspects and want to be involved in performing through choirs and orchestras and bands.  They should also be interested in listening to all genres of music and be prepared to study and engage in music both inside and outside school.  The ability to read conventional music notation is a prerequisite for the course.

Course Content

There is equal emphasis on the skills of performing, composition and historical studies.

The course will expand the student’s understanding and skills and encourage a discerning, scholarly and creative approach to music making of all kinds.

Where the course leads

Studying music at A level can lead to you studying it at university/music college.  If you are not thinking of pursuing music as a career it can be a great fourth A level, which will give you balance across your subjects.  Music is a traditional A level and due to the practical, theoretical and analytical aspects of the course, is highly regarded by the top universities.
