What to do if …

 

… my child has COVID-19 symptoms

  • Do not come to school
  • Contact school to inform us immediately. If test results are received over a weekend please email heretohelp@st-edwards.poole.sch.uk
  • Click here for the NHS list of symptoms
  • Get a COVID-19 test for your child or anyone who is showing symptoms. Not sure how? Click here.
  • Inform the school immediately about the test result.

ONLY RETURN TO SCHOOL WHEN THE TEST COMES BACK NEGATIVE OR A PERIOD OF 10 DAYS HAS PASSED SINCE THE SYMPTOMS STARTED, AND THE CHILD FEELS WELL.

… my child tests positive for COVID-19

  • Do not come to school
  • Contact school to inform us immediately. If test results are received over a weekend please email heretohelp@st-edwards.poole.sch.uk
  • Agree on earliest date for possible return (Minimum of 10 days)
  • Self-isolate the whole household (household members only need to get tested if they show symptoms)

ONLY RETURN TO SCHOOL WHEN THEY FEEL BETTER. When colleagues and pupils return after testing positive , if they have completed their isolation fully and properly, they will not be infectious​.

  • Symptoms they may return with would be the cough which may linger and a loss of taste/smell

  • The only exception is for them not to return until they are at least 48 hours past a fever

… my child tests negative

  • Contact school to inform us
  • Discuss when your child can come back to school

ONLY RETURN TO SCHOOL WHEN the test comes back negative and your child feels well enough to return.

… my child is ill with symptoms not linked to COVID-19 (sickness and/or diarrhoea)

  • Do not come to school
  • Contact school to inform us
  • Ring on each day of illness

ONLY RETURN TO SCHOOL after 48 hours following the last bout of sickness or diarrhoea. As per attendance policy.

… my child is ill with symptoms not linked to COVID-19 (runny nose and/or sore throat).

  • Check temperature and for symptoms of COVID-19
  • If no COVID-19 symptoms, come to school if well enough

ONLY RETURN TO SCHOOL WHEN they feel better and are showing NO symptoms of COVID-19

  • Household member to get a COVID-19 test
  • Inform the school immediately about the test result.

ONLY RETURN TO SCHOOL WHEN the test comes back negative

… someone in my household tests positive for COVID-19

… NHS test and trace has identified my child as a close contact of somebody with symptoms or confirmed COVID-19

  • Do not come to school
  • Contact school to inform us immediately. If test results are received over a weekend please email heretohelp@st-edwards.poole.sch.uk
  • Agree on earliest date for possible return (Minimum of 14 days)

ONLY RETURN TO SCHOOL WHEN the child has completed 14 days of isolation.

… a sibling attending another school has been sent home to self-isolate due to there being a positive case in their school

  • The sent home sibling must self-isolate for 14 days
  • St Edwards child can continue to attend school

… we/my child has travelled and has to self-isolate as a period of quarantine

  • Do not take unauthorised leave in term time
  • Consider requirements and FCO advice when booking travel
  • RETURNING FROM A DESTINATION WHERE QUARANTINE IS NEEDED –
  • Agree on earliest date for possible return (Minimum of 14 days)
  • Self-isolate the whole household

ONLY RETURN TO SCHOOL WHEN the quarantine period of 14 days has been completed.

… we have received medical advice that my child must resume shielding

  • Do not come to school
  • Contact school to inform us
  • Shield until you are informed that restrictions are lifted and shielding is paused again

ONLY RETURN TO SCHOOL WHEN restrictions have been lifted and your child can return to school again.

… my child’s class (bubble) is closed due to a COVID-19 outbreak in school

  • Do not come to school
  • Your child will need to isolate for 14 days
  • Siblings can continue to attend
  • At home, support your child with remote education.

ONLY RETURN TO SCHOOL WHEN school informs you that the bubble will be reopened.

A reminder that all students and staff are to wear face masks in corridors at all times, unless they are exempt from doing so for health reasons. If they are exempt then please make sure your child is wearing a sunflower lanyard or they must wear a yellow dot on their blazer (these can be purchased online).
